Medical imaging is a field built on knowledge, technology, and people. While continuing education and professional training are essential to keeping imaging professionals current, so are the relationships built within the industry.
At Advanced Health Education Center (AHEC) and MEDRelief Staffing (MRS), we believe staying connected to the medical imaging community is an important part of what we do. Throughout the year, our team has opportunities to meet with imaging professionals, educators, students, and industry leaders at conferences and educational events across the region.
These events give us the opportunity to share what AHEC and MRS have to offer—but just as importantly, they allow us to listen, reconnect, and build relationships with the people who make up the medical imaging profession.
Connecting with Imaging Professionals Across Louisiana
AHEC was proud to participate in the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists (LSRT) Annual Meeting, Central Rays Across the Bayou, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Representing AHEC, Kelli Reddix had the opportunity to reconnect with longtime colleagues, meet new imaging professionals, and spend time with radiography students from programs across Louisiana.
The conference brought together professionals and students who are passionate about the future of radiologic technology. Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about AHEC’s educational offerings, including continuing education, CT and MRI cross-training, Mammography Initial Training, Ultrasound, and Bone Densitometry.
For AHEC, these conversations are about more than simply talking about courses. They are opportunities to learn what professionals are looking for as they advance their careers, understand the challenges facing today’s imaging workforce, and help connect individuals with education that can support their professional goals.
Supporting the Next Generation of Imaging Professionals
AHEC and MRS also had the opportunity to connect with the next generation of imaging professionals at the Houston Area Radiologic Consortium (HARC), an annual networking and educational conference for medical imaging students.
This year’s event welcomed more than 300 students from radiography programs throughout the Houston area, creating an exciting opportunity to connect directly with students who are beginning their careers in medical imaging.
Stephen Garza and Michael Leffew represented AHEC and MEDRelief Staffing at the event. They spoke with students about AHEC’s cross-training opportunities and the educational pathways available to technologists looking to expand their skills.
They also introduced students to career opportunities through MEDRelief Staffing, helping them see that professional development and career advancement can go hand in hand.
AHEC’s involvement extended beyond the exhibit area as well. Jence Garza led a breakout session focused on imaging patients with hearing and sight impairments, providing students with practical information they can carry with them into their future careers.
Why Staying Connected Matters
Medical imaging is constantly changing. New technologies, evolving standards, workforce challenges, and expanding career opportunities mean that imaging professionals need access to current education—and to a strong professional community.
Networking creates opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from one another, discover new career paths, and build relationships that can continue long after a conference ends.
For students, meeting experienced professionals can provide valuable insight as they begin their careers. For working technologists, connecting with peers and educators can open the door to new educational and career opportunities. And for organizations like AHEC and MRS, these conversations help us better understand the people and professionals we serve.
That connection is especially important to us because AHEC and MRS support imaging professionals at different stages of their careers.
AHEC provides the education and training professionals need to grow their skills and expand their opportunities. MRS helps connect imaging professionals with career opportunities and staffing solutions. Together, these organizations allow us to support the imaging community from education and professional development to career advancement.
More Than Events—Building Relationships
Every conference, student event, and professional gathering gives our team another opportunity to connect with the imaging community.
Whether we’re talking with a student about their first career opportunity, helping an experienced technologist explore cross-training in another modality, reconnecting with a longtime colleague, or simply learning more about the challenges facing today’s imaging professionals, these conversations matter.
We are proud to be part of a community that continues to learn, grow, and support one another.
At AHEC and MRS, we’ll continue showing up, making connections, sharing knowledge, and looking for new ways to support the professionals who keep medical imaging moving forward.
We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
