Community Care in Action: GROW! Fellow Hope Davila

The GROW! Mammography Fellowship continues to shine a light on individuals who bring not only technical skill but also a deep commitment to patient care and community health. For the October 2025 class, we are proud to introduce Hope Davila, our newest Fellowship recipient. Hope’s journey into mammography reflects her passion for healthcare, her dedication to her community, and her vision for making a difference in women’s lives.

Spotlight: GROW! Mammography Fellowship Recipient – Hope Davila

Hope is a dedicated and community-minded radiologic technologist who brings both technical skill and heartfelt compassion to her work. She’s hardworking, reliable, and motivated to keep growing professionally—already holding an A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology, currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, and planning to earn multiple credentials.

Her background shows she’s resilient and adaptable, having worked her way up from customer service and support roles into healthcare, where she found her true passion. Hope’s experience as a technologist demonstrates her ability to deliver quality imaging while keeping patients safe, comfortable, and cared for.

What stands out most, though, is her commitment to her community. She recognizes the critical need for accessible mammography services in her rural area and wants to step into the role of mammographer to ensure patients won’t have to travel long distances for care. She’s inspired by the current technologist at her facility and hopes to carry on that same legacy of patient trust and compassion.

We had the chance to hear from Hope about what this award means to her, her goals for the future, and the impact she hopes to make in her community.

How did you feel when you first learned you had been awarded the scholarship?

“This award has meant everything to me. I was very honored when I received the phone call, and I’m still ecstatic about it.”

How will this opportunity support your future career goals?

“I can continue with having a brighter future and offer myself a variety of opportunities. I am currently working on my bachelor’s degree and plan to earn multiple credentials. This is one step closer to my career goals.”

Why is this Fellowship important for your community?

“Being awarded a scholarship like this would help my community a lot…. Right now, the facility I work at only has one mammogram technologist. She does an amazing job here and every patient loves her. She is getting close to retiring, and I would like to be able to step up and take over once she retires… By being awarded this scholarship for the classes in October, it will allow me enough time to be able to train with her before she retires… The next available facility our community members would have to go to is around 45 minutes away. This will keep mammograms convenient and keep people up to date for their yearly mammograms.”

What inspires you most about mammography?

“I have always been inspired by mammogram technologists and how important they are in the healthcare field. I hope to become that one day. I love helping people, especially women with their yearly exams. This is something I am very passionate about learning, and I am thankful for any opportunities.”
